"Entered according to Act of Congress, in the Year 1860, by Harper and Brothers, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court for the Southern District of New York."
The sketch image on the front page shows "RUINS OF THE PEMBERTON MILLS, AT LAWRENCE, MASSACHUSETTS, THE MORNING AFTER THE FALL. - [From A Photograph by WHIPPLE, OF BOSTON.]". The sketch is crosshatched and has an arched border on the top. the print is mounted and has a brown wooden glass frame.
The firefighters are trying to put out a fire in the mill from the ground as well as from top of another building, there are smokes coming from the mills, and collapsed and broken structures are seen in the forefront of the image. Men and women in hats are trying to rescue people who are injured. Two long towers are still standing.
