Title
Local Political Involvement of Guilmette
Title (generic)
Scrapbook
This scrapbook contains news articles, mostly from the Eagle Tribune, mentioning or about Gerard A. Guilmette and his involvement in the Lawrence City Council between 1955 and 1984. Many of these articles relate to local issues and politics, one importantly noting the introduction of the polio vaccine and distribution in Lawrence in 1956. Topics like these would have been debated and discussed particularly around election season; this scrapbook contains articles about the election results in the fall of 1965. Included are also portrait photos of Guilmette taken by Jack Leonard– the year is unknown. Toward the end of the scrapbook are articles pertaining to Guilmette’s retirement announcement in 1978, shortly after falling ill.
