Title
Boston Daily Globe: "Afoot in Essex County with Willard de Lue"
Title (generic)
Scrapbook
This is a collection of news clippings from features written by Willard de Lue spanning January 1911 to September 1913. Willard de Lue wrote features on individuals, folklore, and other culturally significant pieces about different towns within the former Essex County. Some of these towns and neighborhoods include Newburyport, Amesbury, Newbury, Byfield, Boxford, Rowley, Ipswich, Topsfield, Danvers, Hampton Falls, Rye Harbor, Provincetown, Cape Cod, and a few others. De Lue wrote narrative descriptions of the local scenery and anecdotes from locals in each town, as well as his own perspective about each town. He wrote some fifty-something stories in this scrapbook, including a series of features titled “Off Season on the Cape” in which de Lue details the lives of locals in Provincetown during the winters that follow tourist-filled summers and autumns.
