The images on the this page depict the "frightful catastrophe-falling of the Pemberton Mills at Lawrence, Massachusetts. Also shown is the "death of Mr. Maurice Palmer, overseer of the mill, who, buried in the ruins, and despairing of being rescued, cut his throat with a pocket knife, and yet survived his rescue a few hours."
