This is an American cook book from 1943 that was focused on recipes created specifically for use during wartime with the intent of rationing food and preventing waste. It is over 800 pages long with over 600 recipes all designed with the idea that one could use less of certain food items to make a larger, more nutritious meal, providing the family with sustenance while also cutting back in order to provide rations for the soldiers overseas. Gelatin, Poultry, Plums and Crumbs became entire meals in the pages of this cook book, and though that may seem odd, many of the recipes we consider to be common place on American dinner tables today actually originated in cook books like these.

The book is part of The Eastman Family Collection. Additional informaiton can be found here: http://wdeastman.com/the-homefront-during-wwii/
