Lincoln Food Building was dismantled in 2008. Filmmaker, Lorre Fritchy,depicts the dismantling of the 108-year old Lincoln Foods mill building in Lawrence, MA throughout 2008. A portion of the take-down was also filmed for Fritchy's movie Millies, now in pre-production. Visit the exhibit, The Assassination of Lincoln to witness the haunting beauty and rubbled remains of history as Lincoln falls, brick by brick. Opening Reception: Monday, December 8. 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Free. Public welcome.
Architectural Heritage Foundation has received 2008 National Preservation Honor Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation for their work on the preservation of the Washington Mills Building No. 1. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Richard Moe, President, National Trust for Historic Preservation, will be present to honor the Architectural Foundation on this impressive achievement.

Lawrence's history is rich in local as well as national stories. We have added the Lawrence History Timeline to our site. Our intention is to give a brief overview of some of the more significant events that have occurred in Lawrence over the decades. October 28, 2008 Genealogy Meeting at Lawrence History Center 6:30 p.m. at LHC 6 Essex Street. Lorre Fritchy, film maker and Lawrence resident, will discuss her research about the upcoming film, Millies, based on the Strike of 1912. You may have seen Lorre and her actors about town, looking for apropriate sites, acting out certain parts of the film for the public at Bread and Roses Festival and at Trails and Sails Week-end. Why this topic? Why now?
This series of maps of Lawrence begins with the farmland of 1844 that was to become Lawrence, and proceeds through a current Google satellite view. The maps have been scaled and oriented so that they overlay one-another to help you see the evolution of the streets of Lawrence.
