The covering has separated from the spine. The front cover is unattached. The inside cover bears an inscription which reads: "This Book is the Property of Thomas Francis O'Connor #54 Washington Street Lawrence Massachusetts January 1, 1922/In Jesus I will seek my rest, And like a little dove, Within His Heart Ill build my nest, And feed there on his love". The next page bears an inscription which reads: "January 1, 1922/September 22, 1922/This is the Property of Thomas Francis O'Connor/54 Washington Street/Lawrence Massachusetts/Do you worry about things that may never happen. Are you always worrying for fear something is going to happen to you. You may die early in life, you may lose your job, some of your investments, may prove poor, your house may burn or you may run down some person while you are out in your auto-but-none of these things may come to pass. Could worrying stop anyone of the ills you conjure up? The misfortune a man actually meets is usually of a nature he does not expect. Put that down. Why picture a lot of unpleasant possibilities and then keep the picture hanging in your mind's plain sight all the time. Certainly you cannot help matters by worring (sic) about them. When driving a car you have often noticed that a hill appears much steeper at a distance, and the actual climbing is much easier than it looks before you have tried it. Similar is his experience who looks ahead at the steep inclines before reaching a definite goal ahead. Written by Thomas O'Connor". This same inscription is written on the inside of the back cover as well.
