A history of the corporations, industrial establishments, churches, societies, clubs, and other organizations; national, state and municipal statistics, and a variety of useful information.
The book contains a list of local government officials, and their year of election. Identification of the local corporations by name, and business overview; Important events in Lawrence during the years covered, including but not limited to: organization of the Essex Company, incorporation of the Lowell and Andover railroad, with W. E . Livingston as president, organization of the Lawrence Fire Dept, resignations of several school principals, resignations of several church pastors, damage caused by 'freshets' occurring during the time period (freshet is a river flood caused by heavy rain or melting snow), instances of mill workers 'discharged' for demanding shorter work hours. Deaths of prominent citizens, Lawrence suicides and fatal accidents (and causes), fires causing more than $3000.00 damage, and drownings are reported. The histories of churches in Lawrence are reported, as are lodges and societies. The schedules of Police Court, Superior Court, Probate Court and Supreme Court are listed. Important events from August 1, 1893 and January, 1894, while falling into the previously identified sections of the book are identified in this separate section, including suspension of operations by the Pacific Mills in August, 1893, and The Everett Mills move to a 35 hour work week. Train fares from Lawrence on the Boston and Maine Railroad are listed, as well as Public an Lodge Halls, and the location of School Houses. The Veteran's Voters of Lawrence are listed, and the national and savings banks in the city. Minor Industrial Establishments are identified.
