A 100 year retrospective of the John R. Rollins School that included: a memorial tribute to principal Claire Archambault Kennedy who became principal in 1973, commendations from local, state, and national political leaders, a Commonwealth of Massachusetts citations in recognition of the 100 year anniversary. A biography of John Rodman Rollins recaps his life history as bookkeeper and paymaster of the Essex Company, elected Mayor of Lawrence in 1856 and 1857, a Captain in the Union Army 1863-1864, a trustee of the Essex Savings Bank, paymaster and accountant at the Pacific Mills, served on the Board of Alderman in 1869, and was a member of the Lawrence Veteran Volunteer Firemen's Association - 'The Rough and Ready Company'. In 1892 he was laid to rest at Bellevue Cemetery. The school is located on Prospect Hill and was constructed with a modern layout of that timeperiod. The book contains a description of layout design and materials. Another section of the book contains recollections of older graduates: Frank Hausler, George Bayreuther, Sally McCabe, Ruth Lange. Class pictures from the various years and photos from class activities are included. Graduation programs from 1894 through 1953 can be found here. Class pictures through 1992 are available. The book is also autographed by the Rollins Clock Tower Restoration Committee members.
