Subtitle
Health Care of the Aged
A paperback book is a compendium of resource material to assist in addressing key policy issues facing the aging population: meeting health care needs of an older cohort disproportionally affected by chronic disease, assure availability of an adequate supply
of competently-prepared health practitioners, determine how to pay for health and health-related social services when the taxpayer base is smaller than the population needing support.
The intended audience of the book is: students, faculty members, older individuals.
The author recounts his family support system for children and the elderly while growing up in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the social and support activities available to retirees at the Toilers Club and Rocky Club and provision of food and presents to homes where the main wage earner was unemployed.
When writing this book, the author was a resident of a retirement community in Leesburg, Virginia after having received a doctoral degree from the School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley in the 1970s, followed by working in the field of age-related activities until his retirement.
