Summary: University Cap & Gown was founded by the narrator's uncle, Moses Perkins, in the 1920's. The narrator, who is President, began to work there while he was in high school. He discusses the changes in gowns; today the trend is toward souvenir gown packages (more convenient since they do not have to be returned). Today's gowns are generally polyester (washable and resistant to wrinkles). The company does about 200 colleges, and today there is a trend toward having faculty dress in academic robes for high school graduations.
