Comments: Mr. Theberge's son, also Ernest, is on tape #21. Mr. Theberge worked temporary jobs, such as cutting river ice for Lawrence Ice Co., Davis & Furber, North Andover building sidewalks, and for B & M; then worked in Wood Mill from 1920 - 1942. Describes dyeing Dept. and other jobs. Also worked in Arlington Mill until it closed in 1953, then Textile Arms in Manchester, NH. and Lawrence Box Co., until 1966. Refers to compatibility of ethnic groups. He attended night school for 2 years, met wife there, had right children. Description of becoming a citizen in 1944. Description of homes, churches, club activities, refers to 1922 - 1926 as "Golden Years". Also refers to conditions for strikes and unions in 1930s, some negative aspects of unions.
