Born: 1910, Lawrence
Ethnic Background: Jewish
Interviewer: George M. Goodwin, also donor
Comments: The narrator moved to Andover when he was six years old, because the doctor suggested that living in the country would be better for his health (he had pneumonia). At the time, there were only five Jewish families in Andover, all living near the center of town. The family would come to Lawrence during the high holidays, and a tutor came to Andover to teach them Hebrew. When his sons were old enough for their education, he moved to Lawrence (1959). There was no Hebrew school in Andover, and the Community Center was in Lawrence. His father started in the junk business when he came to this country. Eventually the family had a business of newspaper routes.

Release: See letter of March 16, 1993 from Dr. Goodwin - OH File.
