Summary: This tape starts with the immigration of the first Smolaks from a town near Krakow, Poland. Work in mills in Lawrence and living on Common St. They bought land from the Glennies of North Andover, Highland Farm. They have farmed successfully ever since. Mr. Smolak describes a day in the life of a farmer - they were "progressive" farmers/ They have expanded to farm stand, tours, exhibits, etc. As many as 12,000 - 14,000 people visit the farm on "A Day in the Country". He takes time to "maintain himself" and hopes for time to satisfy a creative bent: writing or painting.
