About Phyllis Tyler:

Phyllis Tyler is past president and treasurer of the Bread and Roses Heritage Committee and a financial professional who kept the organization viable over the years. She stepped up to these roles at crucial transitional times for the Committee.

Phyllis was the chair of Lawrence's Bicentennial Commission and an active volunteer and supporter of the Lawrence History Center from its beginning. She also founded the Friends of the Lawrence Public Library and was an officer of the Lawrence Cultural Alliance. That involvement contributed to her being chosen to narrate the educational video “A Child on Strike”, which tells the Carmela Teoli story.

As a member of the Bread & Roses Centennial Committee’s Steering Committee in 2012, she helped oversee the planning and distribution of funds for Centennial events.

Phyllis's involvement as a Board member and advisor to many non-profit organizations, and her expertise in the city's history have made a great contribution to Lawrence.

Phyllis is still an advisor to the Bread and Roses Heritage Committee, particularly on financial matters. She is a life-long Lawrence resident, and has been very active with the local and state Democratic Party. She has played an often overlooked role in keeping the Festival, and the story of the Bread & Roses Strike, alive in Lawrence.

Thank you, Phyllis, and congratulations from the Lawrence History Center!
