Comments: Mr. Lebowitz describes his life in Lawrence in a framework that includes WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam - the transition from gas light to electricity - horse and buggy to automobile, etc. He tells how he and his brother went into business on Common St. Of special interest is his description of "customer peddlers". Also, wooden blocks on Lawrence St. to muffle the sound of horses' hoof beats. He was in the Bath House tragedy of 1913 and the Flood of 1936. He recalls the Strike of 1912 and the flu epidemic, also the celebration of the Armistice and the stock market crash of 1929.
