Summary: The narrator worked as a waitress at Rokel's Tea Room at 396 Essex St., one of the many restaurants on Essex St. which sold light lunches and also ice cream and their own candy. It was run by the Rokel family. She also describes how busy the place was - next door to the Transfer Station (for buses). These types of places were popular in Lawrence in the mid-twentieth century. She also describes her experiences at the Happy Health Camp.
