Summary: This is a general ethnic interview about the Kelleher/McGowan family in Lawrence. Few were mill workers - they were carpenters, postal clerks, physicians, teachers, etc. His father's mother who came to the US in 1869 did work as a weaver in mills and seems to be the only one who did. Once uncle was superintendant of the metropolitan police in Boston. This interview tells of a growing middle class that education molded.
