Comments: The narrator's immigrant father worked in the mill. He spoke fondly of "Mr. Wood", and the opportunities he gave young people. Eventually, her father moved the family out to Pleasant Valley in Methuen, to a two-room cottage, to which he added a room each year. The narrator's husband, a dentist, was in the Lawrence High School Alumni Symphony, which ended as the musicians were called into the service. Later, both the narrator and her husband became very active in the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic.
