On Saturday, April 5, 2014, LHC and our partners will host a one-day symposium on “The History of the “New Immigration” into Lawrence, Massachusetts and Similar Communities.”  Brown University Professor, Jose Itzigsohn, will be delivering the keynote address, “Changing Providence: the Dominican Experience in Providence, RI”.  We have received an excellent response to our call for papers, artwork, spoken word, and video presentations from scholars, graduate, undergraduate, and high school students.  Please visit the symposium page for updates and news about registration in late February!

On Sunday, May 18, 2014, Ralph Fasanella Day, we will hold the 1st Annual Lawrence History Center North Canal Classic 5k Run/Walk, plus Kid’s Canal Dash celebrating the role of history and the arts in the Lawrence community and benefiting the History Center.  We will be using official timing. Sponsorship, route, and registration information coming soon.

In June 2014, we will hold our annual Eartha Dengler History Award Ceremony.  Since 1998, the History Center has put a spotlight on the efforts and accomplishments of outstanding leaders who work to bring development, opportunity and prosperity to Lawrence.  Honoree(s), date/time/location, sponsorship, and registration information will be announced in late April/early May.

These events are made possible by our loyal supporters
