Ethnic Background: Irish
Interviewer: Theresa De Pippo, Yildiray Erdener (Tape 246 & 252)
Summary: This tape is an articulate rendition of how a family of Irish descent lived in Lawrence. It includes relations with other ethnic groups, some references to Strike of 1912; though Mrs. Donohoe did not strike, she witnessed Harvard Militia men. She covers chores, work, schooling, influence of grandparents, and her love of poetry and recitations. She describes "The Patch", a neighborhood where dam builders lived, and the shanties along Kingston St. Mrs. Donohoe's memory is exceptional and therefore her recollections must be fairly accurate.
