Summary: This is what I would describe as a "general ethnic" interview. Mrs. Devoe is a complete Lawrencian, comfortable with herself and her surroundings. Her parents came from North Carolina, one of her grandfathers was from New Jersey. Her father had a shoe shop in the old Franklin Bldg. on Broadway. She experienced no prejudices; one of her daughters did, but only once. She was a mill worker and worries about the danger in the neighborhoods today.
