Comments: Tape is about family interview about Bessie Burke. Bessie and David Burke had 11 children. At one time Bessie was the matron at the Lawrence Municipal Hospital. The hospital was renamed The Bessie Burke Memorial Hospital, after Bessie's death in 1934. This tape includes the recollections of several of Bessie's children. One daughter, Bertha, describes her work in the mills as a presser.
