This is a dissertation comparing immigration between Lowell and Lawrence from 1950-1995. It begins with a detailed account of immigrant history for Lowell and Lawrence until the closure of the textile mills in the 1950s. The rest of the work is devoted to the study of immigrants from 1950-1995 in both cities. There is a fairly large appendix with numerous images of the mills and maps of Massachusetts, Lawrence, and Lowell.
